Drexel University (I graduated!)

After two years of hard work, I finally earned my Masters in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from Drexel University!  I traveled up to Philadelphia to visit family and join in the festivities.  It didn’t hurt that commencement was held at Citizen’s Bank Park, home of my beloved Fightin’ Phils!

2017 ARSC Conference

I was proud to be selected as one of four Association for Recorded Sound Collection (ARSC) grant recipients this year!  San Antonio was great and I am looking forward to the conference in Baltimore next year.  What an amazing community of folks, very welcoming and open with their knowledge!

Threadhead Oral Histories

Today, we completed our second interview for the Friend of the Cabildo’s ongoing oral history project with New Orleans drummers, funded by the Threadhead Cultural Foundation.  Thus far we have chatted with Doug Garrison  and Carlo Nuccio about their experiences and influences as well as recorded some demonstrations behind the kit.  The interview team also includes the Louisiana State Museum (LSM)’s jazz curator, David Kunian and LSM photographer/videographer Mark Sindler.  Looking forward to more of these!

Chris Thile on Music Inside Out

A big thanks to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation and the folks at Music Inside Out for letting me be a part of the team for their first ever show recorded in front of a live audience – and featuring Chris Thile, to boot!  What a great evening.  Listen to the entire interview here.

The LPO @ Saint Louis Cathedral

Earlier this week,  I had the pleasure of mixing WWNO/WWOZ’s live broadcast of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra’s annual concert at the Saint Louis Cathedral for a second time.  This year’s program, entitled “Uniquely New Orleans: The Classical Tradition in Jazz,” included pieces by Jelly Roll Morton and George Gershwin.  It is always stirring to hear the orchestra play in such a historic space. They sounded great!
